John Blackford - Mutations & Diseases (Bot) A new sub-label from New York electro imprint Satamile, John Blackford brings an experimental, introverted voice to Bot. From the title track's eerie ambience to the atmospheric soundtracks of 'Deceleration' and 'Apathy' - the latter samples a black and white movie – to the beautiful 'Artificial Intelligence'-style melodies of 'Polymorph' and 'Zipper', Blackford wears his influences blatantly, but the result is so out of time and timeless that it doesn't matter

Long overdue Bot records is our newly formed sub-label , created to support our diverse taste that differ from the Satamile Records genre of Electro. Bot is about more down tempo electronic music that is oriented more towards the mind than the dance floor. Post-Ambient-Weirdness centered around diverse styles but all so called electronic (new) music.Bot 001,is produced by the distinguished graphics
and music producer John Blackford of NY City. Six beautiful tracks, created in his home built studio sculpted with one of the largest self built Modular synthesizers within the USA. If there were a Analog Heaven this would be one and bound to have much appeal and interest to those of the analog world. Resonating with influences from Boards of Canada, Rephlex and Bola yet still defining himself in a truly unique
and different manner is a good way to describe this work and who it may appeal to. Early 90's brought up to date for 2008 along with a new budding interest in analog gear and true live performance without a laptop is the direction of this creative movement.

Track 1 rolling out with a pulsating melodic drone track titled "Mutations and Diseases", quickly dumping into track two "Polymorph" for a deep breathtaking break/beat bass driven wonder-land of rich glistening synthesizers with multitudes of layered melodys and sounds accompanied by a warm deep rolling bass lines.
All arrangements are masterful and seamless from beginning to end. "Apathy" titles track 3 with snappy snare hits and a deep live bass guitar sample blended perfectly with the overall mix. Ghostly , haunting melodies full of emotive story telling are some of the charchteristics of these compositions. Lots of layering of various sounds synthesized from his studio out of the wide array of synthesizers in his collection.
The B side kicks of with "Activation" a thumping energetic track that would make Angels and Goblins dance in the woods. Mystical and "Alice in Wonderlandish" this sonic adventure brings rise to ones imaginative time travel curiosities yet sounding fresh crisp and new on this sleek space ship. B.2 " Decelerations" takes you a little deeper into this world, with rolling stretched out beats pulsing to
drifting melodic overtones creating yet another different sculpted space of floating tones. The last track wraps up this Mini LP with child like whispers and spoken words to add to the overall mystical elements that this album delivers. Inoncense and darkness are expressed within the same moment as the needle drifts
